GENERAL INFORMATION

The Foundation's official name is Kiwanis of Oceanside Pacific Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was incorporated on February 8, 2001. The corporate identification number assigned by the California Department of Corporations is 2280985.
 
The Foundation is tax exempt under Section 501 (c ) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States and Section 23701 (d) of the California Revenue and Taxation Code. The Federal tax identification number is 31-1765727.

This corporation is a non-profit public benefit corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person.  It is organized under the Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes.
 
THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE of this corporation is to receive from the public, donations obtained through the efforts of members of the OCEANSIDE PACIFIC KIWANIS CLUB, or otherwise, for public or charitable purposes to promote the welfare of residents of the community of Oceanside, San Diego County, California and others with special emphasis on supporting youth.
 
All members of the Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis Club are members of the corporation and voting members of the Foundation.
 
GENERAL MANAGEMENT is vested in the Board of Trustees; the elected officers and directors of the Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis Club. The day to day operations are handled by its Chief Executive Officer.

START-UP EXPENSES to operate the Foundation were provided by the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside Pacific from the Club's administrative fund.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES of the Foundation will include the development of beneficial programs for children and youth. Examples would include programs which encourage regular attendance in school; student scholarships; programs promoting child safety; support for programs benefiting handicapped children; and assistance for the San Diego Children's Hospital.

OUR OBJECTIVE is to seek and verify the worthiness of charitable and educational organizations and individuals for the purpose of making grants to them to further their activities.

METHOD used by the Foundation to determine acceptable recipients for grants include tapping the vast experiences of Kiwanis of Oceanside Pacific Foundation members, many of whom are practicing or retired professionals These members will contribute their time and expertise to conduct a thorough investigation of the recipient organization or individual.

REPORTS of the findings are made in writing to the Board of Trustees for their approval prior to any grant being made.

SOURCES OF FUNDS The Foundation will receive its financial support through donations of time, talent and physical resources from its members as well as interested businesses in the community. Many of the members of the Foundation are active or retired professionals who will contribute their time and expertise to the activities of the Foundation. Businesses, likewise, will provide in-kind donations of time and materials for Foundation projects.
